- Laboratory tests and imaging: Blood tests, urinalysis and some imaging modalities, such as electrocardiogram or chest radiograph may be ordered to assess a patient’s organ function, blood cell count and overall health. These tests can help to identify underlying conditions that might affect the surgery or anesthesia.
- Medication adjustment: Certain medications may need to be adjusted or temporarily stopped prior to surgery due to their potential interactions and effects on the procedure.
